About Us
ALTFIELD Gallery was established in 1980 by Amanda Clark, an English designer from an old China Coast family, and David Halperin, a Harvard educated American lawyer.

Sharing an interest in early Chinese furniture and Asian decorative arts, they established Altfield as one of the first antique galleries to specialize in 18th and early 19th century Chinese furniture. Recognizing the importance of careful restoration, they brought out English furniture restorers to Macau (the site or their original workshop, now moved to China) to train their carpenters in the fine art of furniture restoration.

Over time, new areas of specialization were added to the Gallery, and in addition to Chinese furniture, Altfield is now a major dealer in Southeast Asian sculpture, Asian maps and topographical prints, Burmese and Cambodian silver, Indian jewellery and Asian decorative arts. The Gallery holds 8-10 exhibitions each year on a wide range of subjects.
